The Basic Law
"Your body does not work on oxygen aloneโฆ it works on the pressure difference that moves it. Life = pressure difference โ Death = loss of this difference."
โ Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi, may Allah have mercy on him
You Live Under Enormous Pressure Without Feeling It
๐ Pressure Scale in Nature
- Sea level โ 1 pressure
- 10 meters in water โ 2 pressure
- 30 meters underwater โ 4 pressure
โ ๏ธ The body is adapted to the enormous atmospheric pressure = equivalent to 10 meters of water above your head continuously. You do not feel it because your body is in perfect balance with it. Any imbalance in this balance = immediate disease.
The Law of Gas Exchange
โก Not "ordinary breathing": Every gas exchange process in the body works by pressure gradient โ there is no "pump" but pure physics.
๐ซ Gases dissolve under pressure: Oxygen and nitrogen dissolve in the blood under pressure โ if the pressure suddenly changes they turn into bubbles (like Coca-Cola when opened).
๐คฟ The diver example: Rapid ascent from diving โ nitrogen bubbles in the blood โ vascular blockage โ clots and paralysis. That's why divers ascend slowly.
Nitrogen โ The Hidden Hero
๐ 80% of the air is nitrogen: Not used chemically in breathing โ but its function is to maintain internal pressure in the alveoli.
๐ซ If nitrogen disappeared: The alveoli would collapse and stick together โ breathing would be impossible. Nitrogen is the "air support" for the lung.
Oxygen โ A Double-Edged Sword
๐ด Oxygen is a very strong oxidizing substance: It is "what burns the body" not fire. When increased: retinal damage + neurotoxicity + lung tissue burning.
๐๏ธ Premature infants' retinal damage: High oxygen in premature infants' incubators causes retinal damage because new tissues are very sensitive to oxidation.
๐ก๏ธ The body protects itself: Antioxidants (Glutathione + Vitamins C and E) neutralize free radicals resulting from oxidation. Healthy food = protection from oxidation.
The Eye โ A Miniature Model for All Body Organs
๐ฎ The eye = closed sphere + fluid + pressure: The vitreous fluid inside the eye creates internal pressure that maintains its shape and allows light to pass.
๐ If pressure decreases: The eye collapses and loses its shape immediately โ no vision.
๐ If pressure rises (glaucoma): Pressure on the optic nerve โ gradual damage โ loss of vision. The problem is not in the eye but in the pressure within it.
๐ง Same principle for the brain: The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid that protects it from shocks and maintains the appropriate internal pressure for nerve cells.
